All the way from COP3 (Kyoto) – COP15 (Copenhagen), the climate changes, global warming, ozone layers, animals on the verge on extinction, forests, melting Arctic ice caps etc. were always a topic and still is…..

But I think if we had none of these climate conferences we would cut a lot of emissions and pollution. Flying these high paid so called government idiots to talk about these issues over and over,,geeesh!!! and still they have no impact what so ever.

Now according to Richard Branson, if the consumption of oil is as of today then we would have an recession in the next 5 years. People are predicting recessions and global changes and no one to avoid them. What’s next recession conferences…

So to all my brothers and sisters who think it’s all God’s doing….YOU GOT IT WRONG!! It’s educated diplomat hooligans :) Rest my case

A 10 pound haircut…..always had cheaper haircuts in Dubai ( when i had hair) and i thought it was amazing…. But this beats it all

My relative in UK went to the hair salon. He has got a similar hair do like mine but he has more on his head. The hair stylist gave him a reason why he charged 10 pound sterling - the reason was so simple. I like how he thinks…. 1 pound for cutting the hair……9 pounds for finding them……..

This was an interesting part of my life. Yes as the heading says i did speak. It all started 4 days ago as i was ill and in bed. I was so much in pain because of my gout ( kind of arthritis attack) and my blood pressure was low. First time in my life i was hallucinating, i was talking to President Barack Obama. We were discussing about the IOC venue. I explained him why the board chose Rio over Chicago.

My reasons were:

1. Brazil is beautiful

2. It has beach, sand, sun and more views for all kinds of people, age and status.

3. More local people.

4. Beautiful language.

5. Better customer service – He asked me “Kakvo?” I said the maximum population of Bulgarians reside in Chicago and we know about the customer service ( He did not understand)

6. Chicago has only Lake Michigan!!!

7. City were basketball, baseball and American Football prevails – It’s the Olympics

8. There is local food in South America and KFC and Mc Donalds are not food for athletes.

9. And everyone knows that Mr. President is from Chicago…we want people to run the track not run for their lives

My first Upma (south-Indian breakfast dish)

Just moved in and thought i inaugurate the kitchen with an Indian dish. So i decided to make Upma

Let me give you a brief description what Upma is. Literally translated means : be ready to laugh guys salt mango tree . I am not joking LOL.

Upma is actually rava (kind of semolina – kind of wheat). Cooked with ginger, salt, curry leaves, onions, mustard seeds and is consumed along with banana. Someday if you drop by in London remind me to make you one. Yes i started cooking it and i was successful. It tasted like something nice and i now proud of my Indian traits. Not spicy but its amazing. You can add peas, cashew nuts and many variations.

Last evening i had a the best time in London. I was waiting for Petia at Tottenham Station and it was amazing. Saturday evening and so many people. I loved it, i was watching all those lovely people pass by.

I had 2 guys come up to me and ask me directions. According to my few days in London i thought i knew the whole place. They asked me where is “Leicester square” and i started laughing as they thought i was a local. They started laughing too and they thought i did not understand their accent. It was hilarious and they repeated the question. I said “Nznam Dude” and started laughing and we all laughed. At the end they asked someone else and found their way.

Another lady asked me where is Tesco’s. I said i know where is Starbuck’s but not a Tesco’s. I told her that Leicester square should have one and pointed her the right direction as i learned from my previous experience.

Another couple asked me “Is this oxford street ?” as i was outside Tottenham court road i said no it’s not oxford street. I told them to follow a road. And then i see that i was standing right below a board that shows where the Oxford Street was. Guess what ? i showed them the wrong direction….again..

It was all nice as now i know where all these streets exist and one evening i will never forget!!

Moving South!!!

Don’t know what people are talking about the weather in IK, but i had the best days here and walking all the time. Today was the day when i decided to move to our new place. A beautiful place called East Croydon, many have heard about the city. It was my second time and love it there. The best part is that they have a road called “Lebanon Road” and all those delicious Lebanese cuisines.

The train ride to East Croydon is good as it is over ground and you can see the city unlike the underground. It’s fast and on time. The place we rented out is great and we have an Indian shop at the corner. I think Petia and I have a huge smile already. We have tram closer to our place and the famous IKEA. So many reasons why we like residence.

After we sort all this and once i have my residence permit come, then will be my job hunting. Looking forward to that now.

6 Green Habits

1. Energy – Efficient Light Bulbs

They are more expensive than normal but last ten times longer than standard bulbs. They use 75% less energy saving a lot on your electric bills. So change your incandescent light bulbs to CFL ( Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs )

2. Switching Off

Switch the lights off when you leave your room. Stop putting your televisions and computers on standby during the night.

3. Filling the kettle

People have a habit of filling the kettle till top for a cup of tea or coffee in the morning. Why do you want to take long time for boiling just your one cup ? Get into the habit of filling the kettle to its just minimum around 2 cups and the rest use it to wash that tea cup ;)

4. Composting

If you have vegetable peels or scraps from plants and have a garden then use it as manure and enjoy it ;)

5. Recycling

The best thing is that these items don’t stink. So you don’t have to empty it everyday. So have a habit of dividing them to plastic, paper and glass. Make it a habit and then it’s easier to recycle.

6. Re-usable Shopping Bags

Stop taking bags from the stores. Whenever you head to the store take your own bags. For those fashion savvy people they get to show their own bags instead of the store logo ;)

So at least do 5 of the above this month and the 6th one next month ;)

Underground!!

Had a long journey through the London underground, man it’s amazing as i was used to the single line in Sofia and the door opening on one side. But this is a world of it’s own!!!

It takes me 1hr and 45 minutes to get from where i am to the center, but the sleep in the Metro is an option too ( did it and it was great). I think i should get a book and start reading as i am not interested in the many metro newspapers coz it’s all about Victoria Bechkam and Paris Hilton’s cat ( whatever it is) .

Got a picture taken at the metro station for the Home office documents man i look different…or do i look like the rest hmmmm….

The Union Jack!!

Finally the Eagle has landed….The land of the Queen..wow was different to see different nationality and hear different languages. Was crazy at Heathrow, had to wait 45 minutes at the immigration as i was non-eu member. Yes that’s life…but was smiling as 80% staff at Heathrow was speaking Punjabi…

Took the metro with my ashkum to center of London and was so happy with different people, color clothing, different sizes, smiles, jokes and weather. Was so used to vogue models in Sofia and similar dressing…Got out from the metro and i looked at the sky and said i will survive ;)

My cousin came to pick us up and had dinner at a proper South Indian restaurant. Was happy as ashkum was enjoying the food and the smile on her face said it all :) We are here to stay.

Golden Moment - Sofia

My last few days in Bulgaria. I wanted to leave without any gathering or party. But had a good mate Adam who surprised me with a lovely dinner with the most amazing people in Sofia. Off course there were couple of friends who could not make it.

A super dinner with alcohol and friends…what else can a man ask for. Sat with friends from different parts of the world speaking different languages. This is the power of couchsurfing

Had wonderful gifts yesterday..to add to the surprise….and these people were all smiling and happy. Loved every second and moment i spend last evening….more like cs family. Was upset was missing my better half and was more upset after i know that i wont be seeing these lovely people for a long time!! Wish i could take them all with me…

When i left Dubai it was the same and i never thought i would go through this. But no…. If anyone who reads my blog and is a couchsurfer please come to Sofia and meet these wonderful people. If you are not a cousurfer then please join it.

Encounter with a Officer!!

Sunday afternoon was the best. All excited as F1 and a good friend who i have not seen in ages visits me. Decided to cook and watch F1. Plan was do a bit of grocery shopping and back home, cook and watch F1.

As we were off to hypermarket we were stopped by a policeman at the metro station. Well i know i am different but never been stopped my a policeman. Anyways he asked my friend whether i speak english. At this point all i see is his gun. He took us to his room and i made sure i hade my lichana carta. Small office but spacious. He had the latest laptop a bloody Sony Viao – top of the market on his table. He could not update his windows. Bless his heart he wanted me to help him.

I sat there with my friend chatting and trying to fix it. He even refunded the metro ticket. This man was amazing!!!

But the sad part was i could not do it as he some other faults and he was so polite and said it’s ok. I have always thought they were after crooks and criminals. But this man was doing banking over the net hmmmmmmmm!!!

“Chalga” a word i have heard a lot in Bulgaria. Had a chance to hear and enjoy it. This music is so different to any i have heard. Thanks to Martin i have got the moves and its amazing!!!

The one thing i could not understand was the amount of napkins on the floor. I have seen flowers and money been thrown at women, but napkins .. this was the first time.

Why this was more interesting to me was the fact that most people categorize it as a different kind of people music. Called it the “Roma” music but every person in there knew the lyrics. So that made me happy as i always knew music as one and never been segregated to any culture, tribe or nationality!! its MUSIC

After 2 and half years of living in Bulgaria i was kind of disappointed with the various cuisines here. It was mainly Bulgarian and once in 2 months KFC. I know its bad but i thought i rather have it as my liver was so clean i did not want him being lazy.

Met some wonderful friends today Natalie, Mark and his fiancé. Went out with my mate Ivcho and had beer – not me as i am a anti-beer man. Had a lovely conversation and then headed to the only Mexican restaurant. Yes people out there we sure do have a mexican restaurant in Sofia :)

I had a wonderful evening looking at my american mates eating mexican food like it was their first meal in ages. It felt so good looking at them eat their meal and so happy that it reminded them of home (well kinda)

When i go to bed tonite i have a smile on my face as i did something today and made my friends happy……

Will miss you guys and hope to see you soon :)

Water is it safe ?

Always wondered, when i lived in Dubai all those mineral water i have been drinking for ages. How much toxins have i been consuming… 50 Degrees Celsius and not toxins..yeah right…All that BPA – Bisphenol A not good at all.

Came to Bulgaria and started drinking water from the tap that has be filtered with a filter ( Brita ). Tastes better and no worries about plastic.

All this recycling procedures and it’s not a easy matter recycling..so why drink from plastic bottles. By cutting the plastic we have better drinking water and less pollution.

Why waste the tap water when we can filter it and drink…no need to waste it on those bottled ones…

What's more, most bottled water is no more than tap water, which is purified and treated with minerals. And if you're concerned about the purity and safety of what we drink, you should know that our municipal water sources are much more closely monitored for contamination than any bottling plant.

20 Days to go…

Wow just few days more and on my way to UK…It’s hard telling good bye and it’s my second move in two and half years. Will miss Bulgaria and the laid back life…the Shopksa salad, tarator, tik wichki…one thing for sure the food is something i will miss…and my favorite cheese KASHKAVAL.

Just had it for dinner now…well last minute good bye’s and hugs :)

Microsoft Stops Making IE8 Default Browser - Again

Microsoft promised a federal judge it would stop designating Internet Explorer 8 as the default browser on express installations by today.
This was part of its antitrust settlement compliance report, in response to an accusation in May by Mozilla and Opera that the software giant was changing users' default browsers back to IE8 when they used the Windows Update service.

One of the options in the update service is "Express," which - as the name implies - completes the installation the fastest and with the least amount of input from the user. But if the user had already designated another browser such as Firefox, Opera or Chrome as his default, the Express update overwrote it and made IE8 the go-to browser on the computer.
The Department of Justice pointed out that "unsophisticated users" were the most likely to choose the Express option when updating, and these users were the most likely to be confused by the process.

The new update install will have a screen pop up first that asks users, clearly, what they want the default browser to be.

Japanese Cuisine

Always had Indian or Arabic cuisines, and sometimes the burger – fast food places like KFC etc….but before 5 years i was introduced to the most amazing cuisine JAPANESE.

I must tell you at first i was wondering what happened to all that spices and cooking. But the first bite into the Sushi ( craving for it as i write ) it was amazing. The fish was excellent and i never knew that the SEAWEED - NORI would be so tasty.

SAKI – After having the Chinese Mai Tai i promised i wont have any rice drinks. But this SAKI is amazing when its warm.

MISO was another story, imagine having a soup with soya(fermented) after all that sweet corn chicken soup…the soup was out of this world…..екстра

TEMPURA – When i saw it first i thought the Japanese people copied this recipe from us, but this ain’t anything like the “pokodas”. This is IT. Its crispy and nice….they have vegetable tempura and shrimp tempura.

TEPPANYAKI – This is my favorite too. I guess the way the Chef cooks it….it amazes me with all the stunts while cooking. The taste is wonderful too.

PICKELED GINGER is an awesome thing. I guess it was nothing big to me as we do eat ginger too. But when i had it as a pickle - the Japanese way with the food it was WOW!!!

There are many more like Teriyaki, the soya bean salad, octopus and more….

But one thing i have not learned to like is WASABI. The first time i had it…i was warned, but hey Indians can take any spice. I had a huge bite and believe me i had this burning sensation all through my nose and hit my brain so bad i knew what paths it took.

If you ever pass by Dubai and want to eat Japanese cuisine do go to the Dubai Creekside Sheraton. They have all you can eat for 25 Euro. Its a bargain you don’t wanna miss ;)
